Located 300 miles north east of Los Angeles and 200 miles south east of Reno, Nevada, Bishop is nestled in the heart of the Owens Valley on the Eastern side of the Sierra Nevada's. Bishop and the surrounding area are noted for their many forms of outdoor recreation.
With summer temperatures ranging from low's in the 40-50's and high's in the 90's and winter temperatures averaging 30-15 at night and 35-50 during the day, this is a great place to enjoy all four seasons. The high desert climate has only 6" of percipitation and over 300 days of sunshine a year.
Inyo County is the second largest county in the state of California in terms of square miles and boosts of a population of only 18,000. It also has the distinction of having both the highest and lowest points in the contiguous United States located within its borders. Mt. Whitney, with an elevation of 14,495' and Death Valley, with an elevation at 282' below sea level.
